KMS is pleased to announce the return of Martha Portilla of Mindful Parenting, who will be offering parenting workshops again this fall. Based on the needs of the child, Martha will offer a workshop for Khalsa parents of students aged 0-4 and another for Khalsa parents of students aged 5-12 during the 2015-16 school year. Martha Portilla has been a Montessori teacher for 18 years and is a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator and Parenting Trainer. In 2011, she founded www.mindfulparenting.us in order to share skills that can assist parents in helping children and families reach their highest potential.
Depending on the age level, between four and six 2-hour long workshop sessions will be offered starting in the fall. A detailed description of each workshop along with cost for each type of attendee (single parent or couples) is available at each campus office. There is still space available, please register at either the primary or elementary campus office by September 8th. Full payment will be due at time of registration.
The Primary (0-4 yr old) Workshop will take place on Wednesdays, October 11th, 18th, 25th, and November 1st from 5:30 to 7:30pm. The Elementary (5-12 yr old) Workshop will be held on Thursdays, October 12th, 19th, 26th, and November 2nd, 16th, and 30th from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Both workshops will be held in the upstairs multi-purpose room on the Elementary campus.
We hope that you will take advantage of this important opportunity to build upon effective parenting skills. Together, with consistency between school and home, we can ensure the success of your child.
