The Primary & Kindergarten Program
The Khalsa Montessori Primary classroom environment is where Khalsa primary age children are given a firm foundation for all further learning. Classrooms have inviting hands-on materials in the areas of language, mathematics, sensorial, practical life, geography, cultural, and science. By manipulating materials, children start their understanding of concepts in these areas with a firm concrete base. By providing freedom within limits, children are allowed to work individually at their own pace while developing a self-motivated love of learning. Self-discovery materials help develop a mind that can independently solve problems and think critically.
Classes or activities in Spanish, Yoga, and Music and Movement are offered in the weekly curriculum.
Our Primary Program is a 3-4 year cycle for students. The final year of the Primary cycle is our Kindergarten program. Our Kindergarten program is part of the Charter school which includes Half Day (12:30-3pm) of Tuition Free Education. If you are interested enrolling in our Full Day Kindergarten program, there is Tuition for the morning portion of the day.
Primary Extended Care
Extended Care and Vacation Care are available to all Primary students. Families have the option to sign up for either Extended Care, Vacation Care or both when they fill out their annual School Year Enrollment Contracts.
The program is operated in accordance with the Department of Health Services guidelines and is annually inspected to maintain compliance. The staff is CPR and First Aid certified and undergoes annual training mandated by AZDHS. All staff employed in the Extended Care program will maintain a valid Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FCC).

Summer Program
Khalsa Montessori School offers a Summer program, which runs for 8 weeks. There are 4 Summer Sessions that run for 2 weeks at a time. Summer Registration typically begins mid-March. Khalsa Montessori School also offers a Kindergarten Orientation Summer program, which runs concurrent to the Primary Summer program. Kindergarten Orientation is offered during 2 of the 4 Summer Sessions.
We welcome new and returning students for the summer. For new students, this is a very important time of transition. During the summer, they will learn important school guidelines and procedures. This will help them feel more confident and capable as their class starts in the fall. Even though it is summer, our younger friends still thrive on routine and consistency. Montessori materials are the focus of our work during the Kindergarten Orientation. There are also special units of cultural study throughout the 8 weeks.
The Kindergarten Orientation is exclusively for those who have been admitted to the Khalsa Montessori Charter School Kindergarten program for the 25-26 School Year.
The purpose of this Orientation is four-fold; to familiarize new and returning students with our school’s daily routines and expectations; second, to assess each student’s academic, social, and emotional level so that we can develop a plan that meets their unique needs; third, to prepare the children for leadership roles; finally, to ensure that students are well-prepared for the start of the academic year by introducing them to their teachers, school environment, and the advanced Montessori materials.
